A Doctor of Chiropractic is a Spinal Care Specialist who primarily focuses on neuromusculoskeletal conditions of the body. Chiropractic physicians (DC) are license in all 50 states and in dozens of countries throughout the world. Chiropractic is the second largest of the three main medical professions (chiropractic, medical, and osteopathy), and the largest non-medical natural healing profession in the world. Chiropractic physicians are licensed and required to serve as physicians with the responsibility to consult, examine and diagnose the patient, and then either accept the patient for treatment or refer the patient to another health care professional if the needs of the patient require services not typically provided in a chiropractic office (ex. appendicitis, myocardial infarction, infection or cancer). As Spinal Care Specialists, chiropractic physicians have by far the greatest training, education, and skill related to spinal manipulation, which is the most evidence-based effective treatment for the most common conditions afflicting our society, acute and chronic low back pain, neck pain, and headaches.
